Search and rescue (SAR) is the search for and provision of aid to people who are in distress or imminent danger. Utah state rangers, sheriffs departments and coast guard auxilliary personel join in search of people and boats that get lost on the lake. It is best to have a last known position to start the search from, and then fan out to find the person or the boat. Communications is established to assist in covering all the areas needed quickly to get the desired results. Much time is required at times to complete the search and rescue, Some times many days. Also if you can fill out a float plan, detailing where you are going, and when you expect to return in duplicate, then leave one with a friend or family member, and on the dash of your vehicle, it will help to find you if something happens or you don't make it back. Remember, Time of the essence.
